New Nephew

For those of you who haven't heard, Lisa and I have a new nephew. This is Malachi Daniel Odom. He was born March 19 at 5ish in the morning. His brother Karsten seems very proud! Posted by Picasa

Terciera, Azores

Our DBA and I had to go to Lajes to fix a server. We ended up finishing a little early and were fortunate enough to get to see the island. To locate the azores on a world map, find Spain, find New York, and put your finger in the middle of the ocean between them. It was a beautiful place. Lisa didn't tag along (she should have) but she is hoping the server goes down again :). Posted by Picasa

Me, after falling

This is me regaining my composure after falling down these stairs. See that moss? It's slick. Posted by Picasa

My "peeps"

We stopped by a small lake and these ducks would follow me whereever I went. It was very funny but you may have had to have been there. Posted by Picasa

Aloe Plants

These aloe plants were growing all over the island. Posted by Picasa

Nice view of the village

Rock Fences

They had rock fences bisecting the island all over the place. These are very cool. Posted by Picasa

Neat Scenery

Nice ocean view from our tour around the island. Posted by Picasa

Vacation Injury

I cut my elbow and dirtied my pants after practically falling into the ocean. I was so excited to hit the ocean I failed to take into account the tide and moss on the steps. I proceeded to fall down the steps nearly into the Atlantic. Posted by Picasa

Biscuit Vinyard

This was a vinyard in a town called Biscuit. This was not pronounced like the breakfast food, but like Bisc-wheat (which could be a multi-grain, whole wheat biscuit I guess). The town was named for the small rocks that they put at the base of their grape vines to retain heat. Posted by Picasa

Bull Fighting Ring

This was a bull fighting ring that we passed on our nickel tour of the island. I am pretty sure the RB stans for Red Bull. Posted by Picasa

Cow Stau

Stau is the German word for traffic jam. This island is known for its beef and cows were everywhere. The roads would often be clogged with cows. It would be cow heaven except for the fact that they are slaughtered and eaten. Posted by Picasa

Ah, Alcatra

There was a traditional dish that was served on the island called Alcatra. It was a very good roast beef kind of dish. It was a meat and potato lovers dream. It consisted of beef, and beef fat cut into various shapes (mostly cubes). We thought they were onions, but they turned out to be fat. It was still good though and we had it more than once. Posted by Picasa

Pyranees (Peer-a-knees) mountains

I think these are the Pyranees mountains. On our route from Lisbon back to Frankfurt, they are the only mountains we go over and these were definately mountains. The man-made thing in the picture was the airplane's wing. There is one on the other side of the plane too. Posted by Picasa
