Prague, Czech Republic

This was my first trip into the former eastern bloc. Lisa had been to Poland but said this was much different. We had a good time. Food and lodging were cheap compared to other european cities. Posted by Picasa

Lisa and a "Turdlink"

There were these local pastries that were called (unpronounceable). The (unpronouncable)s were awesome. Posted by Picasa

Prague Manhole Cover

An addition in my "Manhole covers of the world" series. Posted by Picasa

Gipsy Musicians

Gipsy Music!

In most European languages, Gipsy means "run the other way". But in Prague, it means "come in, listen to music, have coffee and buy a CD." Posted by Picasa

is that...Paris?

This hill was so hight that we could see Paris!" Posted by Picasa

Timer Feature

Lisa and I figured out how to set the timer feature on our camera. This allows us to have pictures of ourselves without enlarging our terror threat profile. I wish our camera had a "keep the wind from blowing the camera into the local river" feature. Posted by Picasa

Rabbit Skin Hat

I have a theory on why the east lost the cold war. Any country boy is going to know how to shoot a rabbit, so a rabbit skin hat is probably no the thing to wear crawling on the field of battle. Posted by Picasa

"Grab your horn!"

How would you like to sign up for the military to serve God and country and be handed a horn? "The Americans are overrunning the border! Quick, grab your horn and prepare to defend!" Posted by Picasa

Lisa and Comrad

Lisa is not mocking this guy. He was way easier to get to smile too. Posted by Picasa

No. 20

This is a door on the golden row, also known as "hit your head on the door facing" row. Posted by Picasa

Golden Streams by I.P. Freely

We went to a place called the "Golden Lane", not for the lack of public restrooms, but because, back in the day, they said you could get gold out of anything golden. These people tried to get gold out of straw, wheat, pee, etc. When they couldn't do it, they were killed. Posted by Picasa

2-Dimensional Bull Head

This is a little creepy if you are having beef. Good thing we had the chicken, as a chicken with a ring in its beak is not as ominous. Posted by Picasa

Gothic Church

After walking up a big hill, you get to a little town which has a bunch or restaurants, a toy museum, and a giant church. On the other side of the church, there were a lot of military. Not the "kill you" military, but the "dressed up" military. Posted by Picasa

St. Charles Bridge

Lisa and I on St. Charles bridge, the oldest and longest midieval bridge in Europe, according to statistics I just made up. You can also trust foreigners to take your picture and not run away with your camera, most of the time. Posted by Picasa

River Shoreline

The cold war is not over here, as it was still pretty nippy. In fact, our new term for being really cold is "Pragueish", as in, "Look, I'm so pragueish my lips are blue". Posted by Picasa

Czech Opera

We went to the opera our last night there. After a hearty dinner of pig neck, we headed over to the opera house. We saw a whole opera (well, half) for 7 bucks. We could have had 7 bean burritos for that much. Anyway, it was pretty good for not understanding anything. There were about 4 sentences in French, which Lisa understood, but that was all. Posted by Picasa

Scary Church

This was a very nice church in the square that was just down from our hotel. It was very nice in the daytime too. Posted by Picasa

French Labor

I helped the two Pascal's build some barn doors. We didn't get very far. Usually I just don't pay attention. This time, I didn't understand AND didn't pay attention.
