First Port - Athens

Our first port of call was Athens, Greece. It was a very neat city with lots to do. Here is everything we could cram into 6 hours. Posted by Picasa

Guard

This was the guard who guarded the house of the leader of Greece's goverment. The uniform is a little unorthodox, but it builds character. Posted by Picasa

Statue

This statue was on the side of the road. It is called "Man picks up stick". Posted by Picasa

Nice view of Athens from the Acropolis. Posted by Picasa

The Parthenon

No, this isn't the Parthenon in Nashville or the Parthenon steakhouse in Murfreesboro, although those are in much better shape. The tiny couple in the foreground is us. Posted by Picasa

Greek food makes you smile

This is Lisa and our friend Amy. Amy's husband is the one who originally came up with the cruise idea. He and I are in the background finishing off Lisa and Amy's leftovers. Posted by Picasa

Landmark

This Church saved us when we were lost. It is very near the port. At the first of the day they picked us up in a bus and carried us off towards the Parthenon. They dumped us off in the middle of town (voluntarily) on the way back so we could goof off. We caught a taxi back to the port but none of us (including the taxi driver) knew where that was. But we remembered this Church, which she did know about. Posted by Picasa

Splendor of the Seas

Before our first port of call pictures, I thought that I would put up all the pictures that happened while we were at sea. Enjoy! Posted by Picasa

Acupuncture

Lisa volunteered for acupuncture for a bad back or sea sickness, both of which were cured by sticking needles in your wrists and ankles. It cures both by pinning you to your chair where a) you can't move so you're not sea sick and b) your back stabilizes. Posted by Picasa

Muster drill

This was a muster drill where you practiced the coming catastrophe. No, not the problems you get from eating warm buffet food, but the one where the ship sinks. While it was good to prepare for this, I think they went a little "overboard". Posted by Picasa

Coke Cards

On the boat you could buy a card that let you drink as much coke as you wanted. Lisa bought one and 15 minutes later I won one. Posted by Picasa

Water

We took probably 1000 pictures of water, here is but one. Posted by Picasa

Dance Lessons Pay Off

Lisa may tell you that I don't dance. Well here is photographic evidence. This is authentic. I am not that good with photoshop. Posted by Picasa

This is your captain speaking

This is the captain and the half a dozen or so individuals who kept us from plummeting to the bottom of the ocean. Posted by Picasa

Towel Animals

A big thing aboard the ship was your steward coming into your room while you're not there and twisting your linens into animal shapes. This assumes two things: 1) I don't mind a stranger coming into my room when I'm not there; and 2) that I have experience washing myself with a washcloth in the shape of a rabbit. I did much appreciate the chocolates on my pillow though....and lisa's. Posted by Picasa
